Banker (Stone Carvers Bench) Workshop Schedule

The banker workshop will take place on Saturday, April 29, 2023. If we are unable to complete our work it will also continue on Sunday April 30. 10x10 tents will be setup if the weather is on the rainy side.

Date: April 29, 2023

Start time: 10:00 am

Where: Stone Yard Studio (Cyra’s and other’s studio)
6555 5th Ave. South  Seattle, WA 98108  (Note: the studio is in a fenced area north of the blue building. Mid-block.)

Cost:  $45.00 as a donation to NWSSA. Includes materials.

Workshop Size: We are limited to 10 participants for this workshop

What to Bring:

• Safety: PPE’s. Eye protection. Hearing protection. Clothing for working outside. A short safety meeting will be given prior the beginning of work. Wood working and stone carving have some different safety concerns.
• Tools: We will have all of the tools that will be needed.  But feel free to bring your cordless drill/driver, a tape measure, a square, and a hammer.
• Table Height: Choose one: 32" 34" or 36"
  The table top is 22" square. They are built mostly out of salvaged and recycled materials. The design is similar to the ones used at Pilgrim Firs and the one’s that I made for Stonefest, and are still being used at Marenakos.  Pat will post the shop drawing for those who can’t make the workshop. What I would like is for everyone to try to figure out how high they want their banker to be. The banker that I use at home is about 32” tall. If I need it taller, I place a pallet like piece on top of it to raise the work. If the work piece is tall, I stand on the pallet piece. We will also make the pallet pieces at the workshop.
