NEXT MEETING is January 18, 2022 @ 6:30pm on ZOOM
We are continuing to work on ways to get members involved. Let us know what ideas you may have!
Barbara Neswald is chairing this committee and working with Maya Kilmer and Arliss Newcomb. They are planning on sending out the journal on a quarterly basis and expect to have their first copies out in early spring.
Ben Mefford, who has been our Journal editor for about the past 3 years is retiring from this job but hopes to publish the last copy of his tenure before January 1st. That is dependent on the ability to get paper (which he said is now in short supply due to supply chain issues).
Thanks Ben for putting together a great journal that we have all gotten to enjoy!
LEGAL GUIDANCE COMMITTEE:
The Legal Guidance Committee is: Patty McPhee (chair), Bill Weissinger (volunteer) and Tamara Buchanan (liaison to the board.) This committee is currently working on connecting to a legal service that specifically specializes in working with non-profit arts organizations. The focus of the work now is reviewing and updating NWSSA documents and forms for events.
Sue Karahalios is chairing the membership committee this year. The board has tasked this committee with several short term and long term goals.
The first short-term goal is keep the membership list up to date and encourage our NWSSA community to renew your membership at the beginning of the year. [So think of this as one of your New Year’s Resolutions!]
There are so many perks to being a “paid up” member. These include: being able to participate in any of the free events for members only, to have access to the members only section of the website, participate in exhibiting your work at shows.
Members also get a discount on all of the symposiums at the Women’s Hand Carving event, and at Stone Sculptors Supplies.
SUE K SAYS “REMEMBER TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP WHEN YOU GET YOUR REMINDER”
Stephen Taplin is chairing this committee and working closely with Rick Johnson.
If people hear of any arts grants that you think we could qualify for, please sent the info to them.
If you feel that there is a project that NWSSA could tackle with additional funds, let Stephen and Rick know!
Leon White is Chair. (See his blurb above about Rolling Pin Challenge.)
